January 1, 2008 New Year's Resolution "Word" Experiment
Join a group of us committed to making the most of the coming year. FutureStory 2008 is for people who have chosen a New Year's "word" or "phrase" on which to focus during the year. An experimental alternative to the traditional New Year's resolution, the individual's word or phrase ("courage" for example) is used as a focal point while living daily life. Participants come together in and online community to share their stories and to support others as they their convert their "word" to an integral personal strength or characteristic by December 2008. To join, email Shelley at shelley[at]shourstonandassociates.com. Latecomers are welcome.

December 18, 2007 Gift for new or soon-to-be graduates lasts a lifetime [PDF]
In a five week one-on-one training program, story and communication facilitator Shelley Hourston guides recent or soon-to-be graduates through a process that highlights their strengths and expertise, significantly increasing their confidence. Participants develop a 'portfolio' or collection of stories demonstrating their experience and skills. They can then use these stories to communicate their strengths to potential employers. In the words of one participant: "Today's interview was such a testament to our sessions! I used story examples to answer a lot of the questions and did not have any problems with the 'big' questions as I usually do." Gift certificates for Career Kick Start for Recent Graduates are now available. [more]
